Big shark thing? What type of fish are you speaking of? The plastic breeder traps are tricky. Female fish often, if placed in the trap once they have already started the birthing process, will abort the babies, or even die of the stress. You should always try to place the female in the trap a day or two prior to birth. After awhile you will see the signs of impending birth (swollen papillae, boxy belly shape, and nervous hiding behaviour, as well as possibly a refusal of food), and be able to seperate her right away. What are you going to do with the babies? Do you have another tank to raise them in? Baby fish, whether live born or egg layed, shouldnt be kept very long in such a small space, it leads to stunting, and a much greater proportion of culling will be required. If you have another tank set up for fry, perhaps consider planting it well with live plants such as hornwort, cabomba, or ambulia, and then placing the female in their a week or so before her expected due date. Guppies and Platies deliver approximately every 24-32 days. Mollies deliver approximately every 30-45 days. IF the mother fish is really banging herself up a lot, I would let her free. She will probably kill herself via damage to the swim bladder from smashing into the trap and holding the babies inside herself can also cause ruptures. I have never had any good experiences with pregnant mommas in breeder traps, they have only ever resulted in dead momma and no babies for me, so I dont use them anymore.

I dont know what size your tank is, but let me give you a little info on the "Columbia Shark" This fish is a catfish. They are born in freshwater and migrate to brackish water when they mature. They cannot be kept in freshwater as adults. The Columbian Shark grows to about 18-24 inches, and requires a tank of 100 gallons or more. They are, as with all catfish, a predatory fish, and keeping guppies with them is a bad bad idea. An halfway grown specimen can easily consume fish the size or pearl gouramis and even larger, and guppies will not stand a chance with them. Columbian Sharks should only be kept with large fish. heres some info: http://badmanstropicalfish.com/profiles/profile63.html

Well honestly, then the woman you bought it off of is a liar. Never ever ever listen to people in pet stores. They dont give a **** if you buy a fish that will grow huge, because they know you will bring that huge fish to them when it gets too big, and then they will pay you like 10 bucks for it and sell it for 70. If it is the fish in the picture in that link, it is a Columbian Shark, and contrary to what many people believe fish do NOT grow to their tank size. They become stunted and die horrible painful deaths, or in the case of such a huge strong fish as a columbian shark, have been know to smash small tanks to bits, hence why they are one of the fish we call "tank busters" You should do more research before you buy just any old fish a lady in a pet store wants to sell you. Heres a great website, go and ask about Columbian Sharks, you will find everyone will concur with me, you should return this fish. Espescially considering I have a sinking feeling that you have a small tank. http://www.fishprofiles.com

That's crazy....I cannot even imagine being pregnant 2 different times at once. It must be the most uncomterable feeling in the world.
