I have one corn snake. He/She is a sweet heart maybe 6-7 months old. He's about 21inches, not very big yet. i am amazed at how well he behaves around little kids. My younger brother grabbed him by the nose the other day and poked him and my snake just sat there.

I don't, but many breeders seem to use wild caught reptiles as the breeding pair, so they must be able to purchase wild caught reptiles, right?

Saphire - just because your snake just sits there when you poke it and squeeze it doesn't mean it likes it...

The water dragon my son has is pretty neat - and actually less work than the anoles (IMO only!).... I really liked the corn snakes, but they creeped my hubby out so when my daughter's friend asked to take them for a few months......a good solution especially since Ruby was death on cage lids!

Just a note: if we get the snakes back, we will be needing to make some sort of protective cover for the top - I was thinking it will probably be pegboard with a lip all around to fit over the reptarium. Ruby is so fascinated with the snakes that she is in there in the blink of an eye. It is a mutual fascination: Judas spends as much time staring at her as she does at him!

Thank you for the compliment of my brat cats. Did you notice how Ruby's colour complements that of Judas? Personally, I think that both snake and cat wondered how each other got to be so pretty! BTW - Love the photoshopping of the dragon biker!

Islanddragon~ Was very curious bout your water dragons! They seem like very cool pets! (not that I will run out and get one) but maybe in the near future I wouldn't mind having one or a bearded dragon! I find it is easier to obtain pets that don't eat the coach and my shoes and my hubby loves reptiles!! He is so taken with our new frog he just loves him as much as I do !! we watch him together! I do think a bearded dragon would be too much for me as in size (maybe not)so I was wondering how big does a full grown water dragon get?? Any thing else you can tell me bout them would be cool as an owner of them! Yeah ..yeah..I can read bout them all day long but love the hands on stories too! I do see lots of reptiles on rescue sites and later would love to be able to adopt one once I am a fully informed reptile lover!(yes I will also read bout them too!! Avid bookstore fan go all the time and will get some reptile books!!

I haven't seen basilisks around here in a few years. As for the Bearded Dragon, are you looking for an adult or a baby? Do you plan on breeding them eventually?

Hard to believe but I myself have over 50 snakes living in my basement right now. Our biggest right now is a little over 12 feet and our second biggest just passed away last month. We also have a few bearded dragons and just sold our geckos and our skink.

What kinds? You must have quite the reptile room set up! I am not really surprised: friends of mine have an entire room set up and devoted to their aquariums for their fish.....why should snakes or lizards be any different? Must cost a fortune for feeder food!

well we actually breed the food as well so its not so bad lol. Kinda wondering why we cant just have one or two rather than more than 50 . They are all different kinds/sizes.

Not that old - but not that young, either..... Giant Green Iguanas can live 20 years in captivity, but the average is 12 to 15. (Maybe it died from being a giant amongst the giants?! - Just kidding, I think they might have had a spot of trouble measuring....) Just as with humans, although the average live expectancy for a female is 78.5 years, some can live to be 100 while others die at 70 - of age related conditions!

I can't believe it. Eight (8) feet long!!!!!! My little uromastyx is 13" now and the largest they get is usually 18". My little lady (Mali) actually does cuddle. At least I think so. She likes her exercise but when she decides to take it easy she will climb up onto my head and stay there for hours if I don't disturb her. Sometimes asleep, sometimes just looking around and getting a better view. I have held her on my lap for long periods of time as well. She does cuddle. Oh, she also eats only greens, (peas seem to be her favorite,) except in the summer when she loves her patch of clover and dandilions!!!!

Our danged Anole lizard is still hanging in there at eight or nine years old.....I'm losing track! I bought the darned things for my son when he was in grade 6 and he's now turning 22! Lizards are like people and other animals: age expectancies - even with the same care and environments - are just guesstimates based on averages.....
