wow sounds like you all have great furry children. My furry kiddoes usually all get along surprisingly since I have 6 Heelers. They have a squabble but then it's over. If things start to get a little serious (which is nasty if you've ever seen 2 Heelers fight ) all I have to do is make the slightest move & they quit. I'm the ultimate pack leader in this household. But what's really hilarious is the cats! We have 3 indoor cats & they all pick their own dog to sleep with at night . It's amazing to watch the Heelers who aren't know for their love of cats just wrap themselves around them & woe betide any visiting dog who dares to mess with their kitty babies Ha ha ha ha. Even when once a year when we have a litter, the momma barn cats will bring the doggy momma to be, rats & mice which I quickly grab of course & replace with a carrot. Our orange kitty likes to stand on the edge of the coffee table & box with Weru & the dogs are really careful with their teeth considering their jaw power!

Some days it's tough when they ALL have cabin fever & the instinct kicks in if one of the cats goes tearing through the house but we make sure we start them off young. As the pack leader around here the dogs respect me so if I say NOT to eat the kitten, they won't touch it & then by the time it's old enough, they're all friends. I tell ya, no need for Satellite on some days!

I've got 4 kids total, 2 of them are human 2 are canine. My human kids are behaving but now my canine kids aren't. Go figure. Some days it sure feels like 4 human kids and 6 canine kids. LOL I couldn't handle having 4 human kids, I'd go even more nuts! hahaha At least Samantha is starting to understand the potty rules. My human baby has learned her potty rules too! YAY, now if only I can get my oldest human kid to clean her room and my oldest canine kid to quit climbing onto counters and tables and then none of them change I'm set! LOL (yes, I'm dreaming). Oh, and Samantha (canine baby) has now learned how to sit!

The dog is in no danger from the cat and vice-versa (I was not sure who was hitting who, but assumed that it is the cat!). I would let them sort it out by themselves - they might never be friends, but can learn to get along..... If you are spending a lot of time and energy on the dog, the hitting could be a sign of jealousy in the cat....

My cat has not forgiven me yet for bringing the dog home - it's been almost 1 year. She is 9 lbs, & the dog is a 90 lb malamute X but the boss is the cat. The dog is totally calm & submissive around the cat. The cat used to spit & hiss & occasionally give her a whack but now is resigned to loudly meowing her indignation if the dog is too close to her. I think both animals need their own space where they can get away from the other one & otherwise, unless blood or the real risk of blood is evident, I'd leave them to figure it out. Supervise & separate when you're not there if you're worried..... Also, try feeding the cat really yummy treats whenever the cat approaches the dog.

I have 2 cats and 2 saints and they all love each other. My oldest cat is 13ish and is actually very fond of the newest saint and will groom her non stop. The puppy is a bit much for the other 3 at times and will get a good swat once in a while. My 2 birds have terrorized all the above and are given a good 10 foot berth when they are loose. It makes for hours of entertainment

Ten months on.... I thought some of you who replied to my problems with my cat and new kitten, might like to know the situation now... Good news! my older cat has developed a slight lisp when she hisses (which she does ALOT more often now) but aside from the occasional scrap when he's teasing her, they get along well now, even sleep on the bed together, and try to play. my male kitten tho, seems to stuggle to communicate with her, it makes these funny little half purr noises at her, which she doesnt seem to like lol.

I didnt see this post until now. I have two cats, one female(2 years old, and one male 8 months old) and a 11 month old american bulldog. its quite funny to watch them all interact. my female cat is quite mean and possessive, she hisses at the kitten when he wants to play and has batted the dog around the nose a couple times. but the kitten and the dog get along great and really they know they are all a family and whenever one of them is sad or hurt or in a weird mood, the other ones all come to check, even the female cat is worried about the other animals its interesting really. I wonder how your cats interact when you arent around.....

BADLY! And yet, they look quite angelic when we come in the door.....But unlike teenagers, they can't do a quick 10 second tidy to hide the evidence - LOL!

It's called Been There, Done That! Ever come home to Krumkake strewn across the entryway, up the stairs, down the hall, and throughout the kitchen????? Keep in mind that these delicate little Norwegian cookies are made individually on the stovetop in a special iron, and rolled immediately on a little wooden cone - very labour intensive! That was the day we discovered that Ruby Tuesday can open cookie tins......

Well, we might have to rename Sweepea (Peach faced lovebird) Hannibal...after the movie character Hannibal Lechter. The other night all is going well...Christmas tree is coming up from the basement...(fake trees are easier than picking up real pine needles all year) Anyway, apparently nobody was watching carefully enough as Piper (our budgie) was doing his acrobatic fly bys...and decided to land on Sweapea's cage) They have never gotten along too well in the past and their cages are at different ends of the room. Sweapee is huge compared to Piper, and that's another reason they are kept apart. Suddenly there's a screech, and flapping of wings, and panic stations...blood. Sweepea has a hold of Piper's foot...through the bars..."Noooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!..." We rescue the little guy from JAWS, and check to see how he is. He's one toe short now, but apart from that appears to be fine. Quick call to the Vet, who advises corn starch to stop the bleeding...works, so everyone calms down, and order is restored, poor liitle Piper, he's such a cute little guy, but I guess, it could have been a lot worse. They make them tough where I come from and with a name like Piper, he'll be fine moving forward.

All of the pets that are not considered fit for consumption get along. Cats and little fuzzy things, and little feathered things do not mix.

the 2 cats stay seperate from the dogs... and phoenix gets on memphis' nerves a lot...she is definitely the dominant one, but they also love eachother very much. you can often find them cuddling.
