I was walking my dog sugar the other day (she is a chinese shar pei), she gets very excited when we see other dogs.. she has had a little doggy aggression since she got bitten at the begining of the summer but it's mostly with bigger dogs.. Anyway we were walking along the street and sugar caught sight of this pit bull walking along and started doing the usual whining bouncing etc... the man walking the dog (he was leashed and muzzled) said to me it's ok he's friendly...so sugar and I walked up so she could say hello.. maybe the muzzle startled her or maybe she was intimidated by the fact that he was much bigger than her but anyway she starts growling, getting all snarly, and such so I did the usual no and pullled her away to sit... now this whole time his dog was sitting there totally behaving and not doing a thing wrong and I couldn't help but wonder what the world is coming to... my dog is the one misbehaving and yet his is the one wearing the muzzle.... It makes me feel bad for all the great dog owners and dogs who are being affected by this.. Anyway just thought i'd ramble and share my thoughts!!

Nice rambling Bec! I could ramble on about the sadness of the pit situation but I have in many other posts so I will add this....what is really a funny thing is that the pit owner didnt yell at you when your dog shows fear and or aggression around or near his dog ...cause he is the one with the pit even though your dog was not acting right BUT if we just switched places doesnt it seem the pit owner always gets a tongue lashing in this scenerio? Now I am not saying you deserved to be yelled at but ppl generally just freak out if its a pit and when its not ..well..heck...dont worry even if yours acts this way ...the pits muzzled so nothing will happen.....or will it? Do you think if a dog (not yours) had freaked out and lashed out at this pit that the pit owner would be in court or fighting the owner bout this? I think they wouldnt bother and thats the saddest part! Somehow I think they would find a way to say the pit provoked it or looked at their dog and started it dont ya think! Pits arent treated like that here...not yet at least so theres my happy ending to my drab ramble!

Tina you are so right. My daughter and her BF own a Staffie, Bull. While out walking him one day, this little jack russell came tearing out of it's yard and attacked Bull, literally sunk his teeth into Bulls lip. Well Bull just gave his head a good shake and the jr went flying, but of course ripped Bull's lip open. While thats going on the owner of the jr came out yelling at my daughter accusing Bull of attacking his dog. He called the cops and promptly went in the house with his snarling little thing. When the police showed up they took one look at Bull and one look at the jr and told the owner that if Bull had attacked his dog it would have been dead and since Bull was the only one with wounds they offered to let my daughter and her BF lay charges against the owner of the jr. At least common sense was used in that senario.
