Hello I have 2- 20 gallon aquariums with fish. My one aquarium is so clean you could drink out of it Well not really. The other one is a battle, green water. I reove half the water every 3 days and put fresh water in plus add some of the waste control, which I have been doing for about a month but I just cannot seem to get the water clear. It hasn't always been this way. Oh, and I have changed the filters twice. Any suggestions are welcome. Have an Awesome Day Debby

do you have any kind of alage eater?? they seem to help a lot! keeping the tank light off is a big thing! the darker the tank, the more the alage wont grow! hope this helps. keep us posted with the progress!

Hello I have 2 Pleckos, they are both a very good size. The guy at Wally World (Wal Mart) said I would have to move the fish to my other tank, remove everything and start all over. AAAAHHHH! I think I will continue to remove 1/2 the water every 4 days, and maybe keep the light off for a couple of days. I don't like to do that since they need the sunlight also. Right now the light is on for about 18 hours a day, and the water is getting greener. Debby

even though they need the light the alage also uses the light to grow so once it is there and the light is on long period of time it will spread like wild fire. do you buy veggie waffers for the plecos? and are you giving it to them?? what other kind of fish is in the tank?

My daughter's tank had a problem with algae overgrowth and green water. As soon as we cut back on the length of time the lights were on, the problem disappeared. They say not to remove more than 20% of the tank's water at one time to avoid shocking the fish. That is what we did: about 20% every couple of days, cut back on the lights, and made sure not to overfeed....
