I'm not in the lower Mainland - drat! But here's a bit of good karma to share: this year's grad class at the highschool my daughter attends has voted to donate all excess raised funds to our local SPCA! (It was Kake's suggestion, too!)

That is a marvelous idea! I live on the island so I won't be able to help, allthough if I did live on the mainland, I'd be more then happy to help you fundraise for the needy animals out there!! Great idea, keep thinking of ways to raise funds!

Gintz, please tell Kate "You done GOOD..." from us. Debbie and BM...thanks for the support. The only thing I've found is when you involve some Organizations, you can invariably run into a lot of red tape or someone who is less than welcoming as they sometimes think...'what's your angle'...so, with that in mind, I think we could start small and see how big it gets. So, if anyone has any 'pull' with a local company who they think might like to get involved, then let me know. I have a few ideas rolling around in that vast chasm on top of my shoulders and I will elaborate a little more in the coming weeks. Thanks again you guys. Now, where's the rest of you ?

I think I have found a great cause which our fundraising efforts could go to: If you take a look at our Pet of the Week, you'll see I have taken the liberty of showcasing little Quasi. I think she's deserving of our attention (as they all are) but she's had such a hard time even in her first few months of life, with being 'discarded' as due to her 'defect' to the extent that 'no one would want her'...or in this case...'No one will buy her...'...Humans continue to amaze me, with the depths of their stupidity, and actions. Quasi's story is featured on the Rescue Group forum thread. I was touched by her plight and I want to do what I can (and you're welcome to join in) to see if I can help with some of the cost of her surgery. OK, things are underway on behalf of little Quasi. I appreciate all the input, and offers of help in whatever fundraising activities we decide on. I will also keep you updated on how Quasi is doing. I welcome your suggestions and ideas, e mail me if you have any others. Thanks to those who are already helping. Karma works people, and the feelgood factor is in full swing.

Hey Niki...Great to hear from you...big shout to Josh & Gunnar and the gang. Thank you for your offer to help out with the fundraising efforts on behalf of little Quasi. **QUASI UPDATE** I just received the following e mail from the Rescue Group: Quasi is now 16 weeks old, and is now experiencing interference in her nasal passages. After speaking with Dr. Lengendre today, if Quasi's breathing gets any worse, she may need to have an earlier surgery to open the nasal passages up. Dr. Lengendre told us to keep an eye on her, she may need to have multiple surgeries in the long run. One to straighten out her nose so she can breathe, one to remove the teeth that will not fit into her tiny jaw, and the last is a reconstructive surgery to fix her mandible. The surgeries could run us far more than anticipated, double what we were originally trying to raise. Lets just pray that her breathing doesn't get any worse. Poor Quasi. So, you guys interested in helping little Quasi out ? Let me know...she really could use your help. Donations are already coming in to the Vet to help pay for her surgery, but she's having trouble breathing now, as her condition is worsening, so time is of the essence.

Hi Robbie, I would be willing to donate whatever the people want to pay me per day to your cause. I usually petsit for a straight exchange, but if someone were interested in donating a daily fee to the cause; I am in. I do this because I love to travel and I adore animals. Here's the latest pic of our little pup Quasi, (munching on a cookie) who needs your help, (and a haircut) ...the haircut is easy... the surgery not so easy. I am thinking of a fundraising Car Wash in the South Surrey/White Rock area, once the weather turns for the better...most likely the middle of June. I'll keep you guys posted, as to date/time/location... and if you come out there will be photo ops with Quasi (most likely)
