The Golden Retriever is everybody's friend. These amazing animals are playful, affectionate and get along with most every person or animal.


The Golden Retriever is an ideal family pet for those families who have the space and ability to keep up with them.

 GOLDEN RETRIEVER HISTORY
The Golden Retriever breed originated in Scotland in the mid-1800s. Succesful cross-breeding between a wavy-coated retriever and a Tweed water-spaniel produced the first of this breed -- originally consiered a variation of the flat-coated retriever.


This breed became popular as a pet in 1927 and since, has enjoyed immense popularity in North America as one of the most popular breeds for family pets and show.

 GOLDEN RETRIEVER TEMPERMENT
The only problem with having a Golden Retriever is in not indulging its need to run and play. These dogs are incredibly active and require daily activity to avoid boredom that leads to undesirable behaviour.


A well-kept Golden Retriever is a happy, friendly, affectionate and obedient family pet.

 GOLDEN RETRIEVER HEALTH CONCERNS
Major concerns: CHD, elbow dysplasia, cataract


Minor concerns: entropion, distchiasis, trichiasis, cataract, pyotraumaticdermatitis, subvalvular aortic stenosis, OCD, allergies, vWD, cardiomyopathy


Occasionally seen: gastric torsion, epilepsy, CPRA, osteosarcoma
