 AMERICAN FOXHOUND DESCRIPTION
American Foxhounds are a slender, tall breed that were bred for speed and agility in running over rough terrain. It has a short, stiff coat of fur and a soft, friendly personality.

 AMERICAN FOXHOUND HISTORY
Considered the most American of dog breeds, the American Foxhound descended from similar breeds in England, Ireland and France.

This breed was developed for the sport of fox-chasing that had been immensely popular among the European and early American aristocrats. The American Foxhound became a faster and more streamlined dog as fox-chasing began spreading through the southern US states of Kentucky and Tennessee.

 AMERICAN FOXHOUND TEMPERMENT
The American Foxhound is a hunting dog and is not well-suited to city living or enclosed spaces. It can be friendly with its family, though is not known to be an affectionate breed.

American Foxhounds are very social dogs and prefer to live in a group with other foxhounds.
